Subject Double Churches/River Road Intersection



Description Have the staff to check the intersection of Double Churches/River

Road where there was an incident with a truck. I'm told that a light from a

fence at Spring Harbor may be giving a false illusion. Please investigate and

provide a response on plans to improve so that I can provide a report to the

Mayor and Council. (City Manager Hugley)

Response We are conducting traffic counts for this intersection to perform a

traffic signal study. I am doubtful that the traffic volumes will warrant a

traffic signal at this time, but, the study may allow us to obtain a permit

from the DOT for an intersection flasher. In the meantime, my shop will

install rumble strips for the westbound Double Churches Rd approach & replace

the stop ahead signs. Overhanging vegetation is always a problem for this same

approach for which Public Services is assisting with cutting/clearing all of

the vegetation that overhangs the shoulder. Our work should be complete within

a two weeks. We will update you on the signal/flasher study as soon as we

complete it.
