The Board of Elections and Registrations board meeting was held May 2, 2002 at

2:00 p.m.



Members present: Margaret Jenkins

Eleanor White

Ken Barfield

Walter J. Wright,

Jr.



Member Excused: Jan Dickens



Mr. Walter Wright, Vice-Chairperson called the board meeting to order in the

absence of the Chairperson, Jan Dickens.



Motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the April board meeting

as amended.



NEW BUSINESS:



Margaret Jenkins asked for the time frame of the training sessions for the

pollworkers. Nancy asked the board if July 8th was acceptable to start the

pollworker training sessions. There will be make-up sessions for the workers

that are unable to attend the scheduled times. Nancy will provide the board

with the times and dates of the sessions. She will also put together the

things that will be covered during training for each board member so that they

will have input for the training.



Nancy told the board that there is a hiring delay enforced until July 1st.



Each board member was given a preliminary worksheet for each one of the

precincts, showing the newly split precincts. We will have 13 split precincts

as opposed to the 4 split precincts in the past. The Senate Districts still

have not been approved. The Secretary of State?s Office will pay the postage

for notifying the voter of their new districts. Congressional lines have been

approved.



Being no further business to discuss, motion was made and seconded by Ken

Barfield for adjournment. Vote was unanimous.
