Subject: UGA Classification Study Update

The second review meeting with UGA was this week. The main issues we are

working on involve a significant number of orphan employees from the original

data collection efforts. We were hopeful that these were duplications of other

existing jobs that were surveyed and while most were, several were not and will

require completion of position description questionnaires. As reported to you

in my last update, job descriptions were distributed to the departments and we

are receiving feedback. There also are revised dates for our next processes

that should be more accurate than those last reported.



1. UGA projects completion of the draft job descriptions and classification

plan by early September and then a review meeting will be scheduled with you.

2. Rather than meeting with the departments this month for review of job

descriptions only, those meetings will be scheduled in late September

(September 20 through 22 is projected) when the review can also include the

classification plan.
