MINUTES # 48-02



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, December 11, 2002,

at 2:00PM with Chairman Beatrice Breaux, Assessors Lawton Grantham, Richard

Stallings, Ann Grantham and William Braxton present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor William Braxton made a motion to approve Minutes #47-02, Assessor Ann

Grantham second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



The Board also reviewed and approved Development Authority bond letters.



Met with Mr. Weeks and Mr. Norwood representing Greater Peace Baptist Church

regarding the requests for non-taxability for properties located at 2832

Baldwin St; 2828 Baldwin St, 2826 Baldwin, 2824 Baldwin St, 2822 Baldwin

Street, 2820 Baldwin Street and 2829 8th Street. Mr. Weeks said they were

planning to make an addition to the property located at 2821 8th Street

utilizing the properties on Baldwin Street for the addition and additional

parking. The Board advised Mr. Weeks and Mr. Norwood they needed an approved

plat combining the lots with the existing church property and also the property

must be used on January 1, 2003 for church purposes. The Board told them to

come back after January 1, 2003 and bring a copy of the plat and information

showing they were using the property on January 1, 2003.



The Board reviewed a letter from Antoine Thomas regarding personal property

account # 06309101. The Board also reviewed information Mr. Thomas furnished

showing he had moved out of the County and was not in business on January 1,

2002. Assessor Richard Stallings made the motion to remove the assessment for

the year 2002, Assessors Ann Grantham second the motion, motion carried.



Met with Residential Division Chief Bob O?Brien, reviewed and approved the
