WHEREAS, Mr. Claudis Wayne Kirkland of Columbus died on December 26, 2001;
WHEREAS, Mr. Kirkland worked as a Night School Principal at Carver Night School
for the past 35 years;
WHEREAS, he was an avid fisherman and he managed the Three Lakes Fishing Club
for the past 20 years;
WHEREAS, he was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church and is
survived by his wife of more than 35 years, Sue Bryan Kirkland, three children,
Claudis Wayne Kirkland, Jr. of Salem, Alabama, Tamela Sue Kirkland of Columbus
and Eric Bryan Kirkland of Columbus, a sister, Jane Clay of Columbus, and two
grandchildren, Courtney A. Kirkland and Sean D. Kirkland.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of
Mr. Claudis Wayne Kirkland who served the Columbus community and Carver Night
School for 35 years. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the family
of Mr. Claudis Wayne Kirkland.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held on
the 7th day of May, 2002, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
of ten members of said Council.
