A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT, UPON APPROVAL, A GRANT OF

$290,602.76 FROM THE GEORGIA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY THROUGH THE HOMELAND

SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM AND AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND 216 BY $290,602.76.



WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government is committed to providing support

for Homeland Security in GEMA Area 4; and,



WHEREAS, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency has allocated grant funds to

the State of Georgia through the All Hazards Council to fund Homeland Security

Grants; and,



WHEREAS, the Columbus Fire Department and EMS Department has developed a grant

proposal to purchase hazardous material response, detection and decontamination

equipment; and,



WHEREAS, this grant will provide this government with the capability to respond

to hazardous materials incidents with the necessary equipment and trained

personnel anywhere within the State of Georgia; and,



WHEREAS, this grant does not require any matching funds; and,



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



1) That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept upon approval a GEMA

Grant of $290,602.76 from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency through the

Homeland Security Grant Program.



2) Amend the budget through increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by

$290,602.76 or the actual amount funded.
