Creek Golf Course. Members present were Chairman Donald Clack, Floyd

Hill, Rhudine Nelson and Nancy Wilkeson. Staff member present was John Milam.
Minutes of the December 16, 2003, meeting were approved as presented. Motion
made by Richard Hagler and seconded by Rick Cravens.
Superintendent?s Report given by John Milam
New sand has been replaced in all bunkers on the East Course. Rocks were
removed on those bunkers that were contaminated and replaced with new sand.
Catch basins were installed in the fairways on holes 5, 13, 15, and 16 on the
West Course. The 14th green had a catch basin installed. Catch basins will be
installed next on 3 and 17 fairways and near the green on 13. On the East
Course, hole 15, a catch basin will be added. A drainage pipe that runs across
the fairway that was installed in the early 80?s has corroded and will be
replaced. The new restroom near 7 tee on the West has been painted and is
operational. The pavilion ceiling and trim was repainted. The rain shelter on
8 tee was moved to 7 tee on the West. Herbicide was applied to the greens to
control Poa Annua. Fourteen holes on the West have been sprayed for winter
weed control and around the tees on the East have been treated. The shooting
of the yardage is half way done to mark the sprinklers on the West. Tags will
be ordered when completed. Replacement tags for the East will be ordered at
that time.
Godwin Creek
Godwin Creek?s revenue last month was $500. They have $792 in the bank. Three
thousand dollars is due from the Yancey Foundation. The Georgia State Golf
Association is also making a contribution. The pump is still down and will be
repaired by March 1st at a cost of approximately $2000. Godwin Creek will be
responsible for this cost.
Report of John Milam, Director of Golf
Financial Report:
Too many days with cold temperatures or rainy conditions brought the revenue
down. Revenue for January ?04 is $16,000 ahead of last January. Bull Creek
and Oxbow Creek are keeping expenses under control.
Project Update:
The contractor has pulled out until the growing season begins, hopefully in
April. The 13th green will be redone and work on holes 16, 17 and 18 needs to
be finished. We still have retainage from Tifton Golf Services and Mr.
DeVictor Langham. The new putting green will be built (April ?04) with slopes
mimicking the course greens. It will be approximately 10,000 square feet. We
are looking to install another fountain in the lakes near the 18th green on the
West and the 6th hole on the West. The City will assist Bull Creek in digging
out the silt in the lake near the 18th green.
At Oxbow Creek in front of the 5th green, a lake will be made to deal with the
green slime. A fountain may be added.
A motion was made at 4:35 p.m. to adjourn by Richard Hagler and seconded by
Rick Cravens.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
