A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND
IF APPROVED ACCEPT A GRANT OF $250,000 FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF
JUSTICE UNDER THE HOMELAND SECURITY OVERTIME PROGRAM TO PAY OVERTIME COST FOR
LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL UTILIZED FOR HOMELAND SECURITY. TO AMEND THE
MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND IN THE AMOUNT APPROVED FOR THE GRANT AND APPROVE THE
25% CASH MATCH FROM THE GENERAL FUND CONTINGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government is responsible for providing law
enforcement personnel for incidences involving Homeland Security; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Justice is providing our government with the
opportunity to obtain grant funding for overtime associated with Homeland
Security; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Justice will provide 75% with the local match being
25%, the break down will be Federal portion $187,500 with the City portion
will be $62,500; and,
WHEREAS, the matching funds for this program will be provided from the General
Fund Contingency.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
1) That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit and if approved accept
a grant of $187,500 from the United States Department of Justice under the
Homeland Security Program to pay overtime cost for law enforcement personnel
utilized for Homeland Security; and,
2) Amend the Multi-Government Fund in the amount approved for the grant;and,
3) Approve the 25% cash match from the General Fund Contingency.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,
held the day of, _________ 2003 and adopted at said meeting by the
affirmative vote of members of said Council.
