SUBJECT: Grant - Children?s Tree House Inc.

Recommendation: Authorize the City Manager to fund a grant of $35,500 to

Children?s Tree House Inc.. from the Crime Victim Surcharge Account to purchase

an Image Quest Colposcope and two computers.



Background: Children?s Tree House Inc.. has requested funds to purchase an

Image Quest Colposcope to enable them to tap into telemedicine resources at

Children?s Health Care of Atlanta and bring Columbus into a network of centers

statewide. The equipment will be utilized by the local SANE Nurse Program with

support from local physicians to link with Atlanta programs for

consultations. The colposcope will be located at Our House at the Northridge

site.



Analysis: Staff recommends that these funds be made available as a grant.



Financial Considerations: The total amount of the grant will be provided from

the Crime Victim Witness Surcharge. This will be a one time expenditure.



Legal Considerations: This proposal is eligible for funding from the Crime

Victim Witness Surcharge.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO FUND A GRANT OF $35,500 TO

CHILDREN?S TREE HOUSE , INC. FROM THE CRIME VICTIM SURCHARGE TO PURCHASE A

IMAGE QUEST COLPOSCOPE AND TWO COMPUTER TO BE USE IN THE SANE NURSE PROGRAM TO

EXAMINE CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN ABUSED AND INCREASE THE CRIME VICTIM WITNESS

BUDGET FROM $258,823 to $293,823.



WHEREAS, funds are available in the Crime Victim Surcharge Account to provide a

grant to Children?s Tree House, Inc.for the purchase an Image Quest Colposcope

and two computers; and,



WHEREAS, this is an eligible expenditure from the Crime Victim Surcharge; and,



WHEREAS, this equipment will enable local agencies to tap into the telemedicine

program at Children?s Health Care of Atlanta and bring Columbus into a network

of centers statewide; and,



WHEREAS, this equipment will be utilized by the local SANE Nurse Program with

support from local physicians to link with Atlanta programs for consultations;

and,



WHEREAS, the total cost for the colposcope and two computers will be

$35,500.00.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:





1) That the City Manager is authorized to fund a grant of $35,500.00 to

Children?s Tree House, Inc. from the Crime Victim Witness Surcharge Account to

purchase a Image Quest Colposcope for use in the SANE Nurse Program to examine

children that have been abused.

2) The Crime Victim Witness Budget is increased by $35,500 from $258,823 to

$293,823.
