The Board of Elections and Voter Registration Board meeting was held June 3,

2004 at 2:00 p.m.

S Y N O P S I S



The Board of Elections and Voter Registration Board Meeting was called to

order by the Chairperson, Mr. Walter J. Wright, Jr.



Motion was made and seconded to accept the May board meeting minutes. Motion

seconded, vote unanimous.



COMMENTS: Nancy told the board that the ballot proof had been received and

there will be 76 different ballot styles for the July General Primary. With

the new re-districting, and the five precinct changes the largest precincts

have been equalized.



OLD BUSINESS: A copy of the letter for poll worker training was give to each

board member. Two additional training sessions are scheduled for the encoder

clerks only. These sessions will be held on July 12th and July 13th. There

will be no ballot cards encoded until the voter has been processed and ready to

vote. A separate training session will be conducted for the Jordan High School

students. The board discussed ways of utilizing the students.



AREA MANAGERS: The board was asked what scope of authority is to be given the

area managers.



SECURITY: The board was advised the safety guidelines the State has imposed to

protect the voting machines.



Electors who cast a provisional ballot will be given a unique number. The

number will be the precinct number and times ballot was cast. The elector can

access the government center web site to find out if their vote was counted and

if not, why. Nancy gave each board member a copy of a form letter that will

be given to each precinct manager outlining the procedure for provisional

voting. Ken recommended that A or P be put beside the time to determine if the

vote was cast in the morning or afternoon..



CORRESPONDENCE: A letter from the Reverend Howell was received in reference to

his recall petition.



Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
