Council Meeting

Agenda Report #

TO: Mayor and Councilors

SUBJECT: Driveway Variance

INITIATED BY: Department of Engineering

______

Recommendation: Approve the attached resolution authorizing a variance to the

City Code that will allow the driveway radius to cross the property line at 326

Farr Road.

Background: The Traffic Engineering Division received site plans that

indicated a need to request a variance to the City Code requirements for

driveway at 326 Farr Road. The Family Dollar Store is developing and improving

this property for tractor trailer access and turn around by placing the

commercial driveway along the south property line. The proposed driveway uses

large radii for tractor-trailer access causing 15 ft. of the southern radius to

cross the property line.

Analysis: The Traffic Engineering Division reviewed the site plans and

recommends approval of the variance.

Alternatives: A denial would prevent the installation of the driveway.

Financial Considerations: There are no costs to the City beyond administrative

cost for permitting and inspections.

Legal Considerations: A variance to the City Code requirements for the driveway

requires Council approval.

Recommendations/Actions: Approve the recommended variance for the driveway for

326 Farr Road.

RESOLUTION
