A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND IF APPROVED ACCEPT A
GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES - ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION DIVISION
SCRAP TIRE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENFORCEMENT AND EDUCATION GRANT.
WHEREAS, funds are available from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources,
EPD Scrap Tire Management Program to assist with the enhancement of our current
Scrap Tire Management Program by offering funds to create and implement strong
educational programs; and,
WHEREAS, acquiring an aggressive educational program that focuses solely on
environmental issues facing Columbus, GA today, will lead the way for our
community to implement and or develop good habits or best practices for a
cleaner tomorrow; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Services has prepared a plan of action, to
include an agreement for the Keep Columbus Beautiful Agency to administer this
grant, thereby, establishing an effective marketing campaign as well as the
creation of an educational program, against illegal dumping, litter control,
scrap tire accumulation and the accumulation of solid waste; and,
WHEREAS, this grant does require the City of Columbus to pay a twenty percent
(20%) share of all costs associated with this grant ($10,348.00 of a total of
$51,740).
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if
approved accept $51,740.00 grant with a 20% local match from the Georgia
Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division -Scrap Tire
Management Program, Local Government Enforcement and Education Grant and amend
the Multi - Governmental Funds by alike amount. This grant will be administered
by Keep Columbus Beautiful.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held
the 25th day of February, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
of _____________members of said Council.
