Creek Golf Course. Members present were Chairman Donald Clack, Floyd
Washington, Michael Silverstein, Richard Hagler, Nancy Wilkeson, and June
Holder. Earl Bagley, Rhudine Nelson and Rev Willie Hill had an excused
absence. Staff member present was John Milam.
Minutes of the September 28, 2004, meeting were approved as presented. Motion
made by June Holder and seconded by Michael Silverstein
Report of Superintendent by John Milam
The practice green and all tee boxes have been over seeded. Drain tile and
catch basins at 11 East tee and between the driving range and 9 East green have
been installed. Continuing to edge the bunkers and cart paths. Repairing the
low area in some fairways.
Planned work for the coming month includes removal of dead trees, silt removal
of the lake by 18 West green and 3 East green, drainage work and edging.
The red, white and blue flags for the greens have been ordered. Michael
Silverstein suggested a line be painted near 3 West green indicating where
carts are to be parked giving Bull Creek further protection from liability.
Report of John Milam, Director of Golf
Godwin Creek
Godwin Creek made $104 last month. For the past nine months, Godwin Creek has
lost $11,726. The First Tee Program has plenty of students and coaches. The
better players that move up to the next level are practicing at Oxbow Creek.
Oxbow Creek
Oxbow Creek has increased their rates $1.00. Revenue was slightly down for the
month of September compared to the same time period last year due to three
tropical storms that passed through the area. The tees have been over seeded.
Richard Hagler stated that the course is in excellent condition.
Bull Creek
Bull Creek?s revenue was higher in the month of September; however, lower than
anticipated ($10,000 to $15,000) due to the storms. Year to date net is about
$70,600 and this will help us through the lean winter months. Bull Creek makes
approximately $3,000 on Wednesday dollar days. June Holder suggested that we
need new furniture for the outer lobby. John has contacted several local
furniture stores for donations or promotional advertising. It was also
suggested that once the new carpet is laid, that the old furniture be removed.
A motion was made at 4:30 p.m. to adjourn by Richard Hagler and seconded by
June Holder.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
