A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT A GRANT TO THE BUREAU OF
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, FOR $300,000 TO FUND THE
COLUMBUS/MUSCOGEE COUNTY JUVENILE DRUG COURT FOR TWO -YEARS AND TO AMEND THE
MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY LIKE AMOUNT.
WHEREAS, funds have been made available from the Bureau of Justice
Assistance, Office of Justice Programs for the purpose of enhancing the
Juvenile Drug Court; and,
WHEREAS, Columbus is eligible for $300,000 to fund this program for
two-years; and,
WHEREAS, the Juvenile Drug Court operates on a team concept , but also,
as a community collaborative effort to address the needs of the youth abusing
drugs; and,
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, requires
a 25% In-Kind match, of which $1,500 is required in cash.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
That the Mayor is hereby authorized to submit and if approved accept a grant
from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs for $300,000
to fund a Columbus/Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court for two-years and amend
the Multi-Governmental Fund by a like amount.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,
held the ____ day of _________ 2003 and adopted at said meeting by the
affirmative vote of ____ members of said Council.
