SUBJECT: Sale of City Property (Victim Witness Center)

Recommendation: Approve the attached resolution declaring property as

surplus and authorize the City Manager to dispose of said property identified

as Tax Map Parcel 004 015 003 and 002 a/k/a 1011 and 1009 3rd Avenue, Columbus,

Muscogee County, Georgia, (see attached map).



Background: This parcel of property has been in the possession of the

City since 1978 and is being used to house the Victim Witness Center. The

Victim Witness Center is vacating the building and moving to the Government

Center, West Wing.



Analysis: The property consists of 5,379 +/- Sq. Ft of land on which the house

containing the Victim Witness Center is located. The subject property is Zoned

C-1.



Financial Considerations: The tax assessed appraised value of the property is

$101,838.00. A Quit Claim Deed will transfer the property.



Legal Considerations: Council must approve the sale of real estate and

newspaper notices shall be published in accordance with Columbus Charter

Section 7-501.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the attached resolution declaring the

property surplus and authorizing the sale of the above-identified property.











A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO DECLARE PROPERTY AS SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING THE

SELL OF 1011 AND 1009, 3RD AVENUE THE VICTIM WITNESS CENTER, LOCATED IN

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA, A/K/A TAX MAP 004 015 003 AND 002.

WHEREAS, the Consolidated Government of Columbus acquired the above described

property in 1978 and no longer has any future use or plans for the

facility/property; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,

Georgia to sell the property as surplus; and,



WHEREAS, the property will be advertised for sale in accordance with

Section 7-501 of the City Code.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to declare the property identified

on Tax Map 004 015 003 and 002, located at 1011 and 1009 3rd Avenue, as surplus

and authorize the execution of all documents necessary to advertise and sell

said property at fair market value.
