MINUTES # 36-04



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, September 15,

2004, at 2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Ann Grantham, William

Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J.

Land. Assessor Richard Stallings was absent.



Assessor Pat Hunter made a motion to approve Minutes # 35-04, Assessor Ann

Grantham seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



The Board also approved the application for conservation use for parcel ID 141

002 003.



The Board approved a Development Authority Bond Letter for ECLA Family

Partnership, LLLP for 2004.



The Board discussed the additional information received from Mr. Tony Gray

regarding parcel ID 069 023 039. Assessor Pat Hunter made a motion to deny the

request for non-taxability, since the property was not being used on January 1,

2004. Assessor Ann Grantham seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously by

all members present.



Met with Mr. and Mrs. Dent regarding the 2004 assessment for their personal

property account # 06359801. Mrs. Dent told the Board they went out of business

in 2003 and they sold most of the inventory. Mr. Dent said the remaining

inventory was moved out of the county prior to 2004. Mrs. Dent said they

closed the business license on May 15, 2003. She said they moved to Macon in

January 2004 and do not recall receiving a 2004 Personal Property Return. Mrs.

Dent showed the Board utility bills and lease information indicating they were

no longer leasing the building where the business was located. Assessor William

Braxton made the motion to remove the 2004 assessment; Assessor Pat Hunter

seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously by all members present.



Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the
