MINUTES # 46-05



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, November 16,

2005, at 2:00PM

with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Ann Grantham and William Braxton

present. Also present was Interim Chief Appraiser Betty J. Middleton. Assessors

Richard Stallings and Pat Hunter were absent.



Assessor William Braxton made a motion to approve Minutes # 45-05, Assessor Ann

Grantham seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



The Board reviewed the information furnished regarding the request for

non-taxability for account # 06739691 and approved tax exempt status for the

year 2005.



Mr. Wisdom had an appointment with the Board of Tax Assessors; however, did not

appear. (Personal property account # 0564901)



Met with Mr. Harris regarding his personal property account # 05712501. Mr.

Harris said he closed his business and business license in 1998 and he paid his

taxes at that time. The Board asked Mr. Harris to furnish a copy of the

receipt. The Board delayed action until the requested information is

submitted.



Met with Ms. Snyder regarding her personal property account # 05914201. Ms.

Snyder said that her mother was taking care of the business all those years,

but has passed away. Ms. Snyder said they were trying to refinance their home

and learned about the tax lien placed against their property. No personal

property returns or appeals have been filed for the previous years; the

personal property return for 2005 was filed late. The Board took no action.



Met with Personal Property Division Chief Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved

the following:



Assessment Corrections: 6(-)

2(+)

2005 Appeals: 19(-)

Late Appeal: 1(No Action)



Further discussion of pending personal property court case.
