Council Members
WHEREAS, Mr. Daniel P. Amos, AFLAC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
received the 2004 Stuart Lewengrub Torch of Liberty Award from the
Anti-Defamation League on September 13, 2004 at a ceremony in Atlanta;
WHEREAS, the Anti-Defamation League annually presents the Torch of Liberty
Award to an individual or company making outstanding contributions to the
welfare of their community;
WHEREAS, the Award was named in honor of Stuart Lewengrub who served as the ADL
Southeast Regional Director from 1965 until 1995 and symbolizes ADL's
commitment to translating our democratic heritage into a way of life for all
Americans;
WHEREAS, in January, Mr. Amos was presented with the 2004 Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. Unity Award and in June, he received the 2004 Ernst & Young
Entrepreneur of the Year Award;
WHEREAS, for the past three years, AFLAC has been named to Working Mother
magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" and in January,
2004, AFLAC was included in Fortune magazine's list of "The 100 Best Companies
to Work For" for the sixth consecutive year;
WHEREAS, his receipt of the 2004 Stuart Lewengrub Torch of Liberty Award is
worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Daniel P. Amos, AFLAC Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer, upon his receipt of the 2004 Stuart Lewengrub Torch of
Liberty Award from the Anti-Defamation League. Let a copy of this Resolution
be forwarded to Mr. Daniel P. Amos.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
21st day of September, 2004, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative
vote of ten members of Council.
