A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF EXTENDED MILITARY ACTIVE DUTY BENEFITS
FOR ACTIVATED MILITARY RESERVE AND NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Council acknowledges the declaration of the War on Terror
by George W. Bush, the President of the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Council recognizes and appreciates the sacrifices of our
employees who are members of the military reserves or national guard and who
have been ordered to active military duty in support of the War on Terror.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1.
Any current employee of the Columbus Consolidated Government ordered to
extended active military duty as a member of the military reserves or national
guard and commencing with the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, shall be
eligible for reimbursement of financial losses suffered thereof as governed by
the City Military Leave Policy (Human Resources Policy Number 220-401) by
providing proof of said loss to the Human Resources Director. The
reimbursement benefit provided herein shall be limited to a maximum of one
year of active duty during the period established below in Section 2.
Section 2.
This resolution shall be retroactive to September 11, 2001 and shall
expire on June 30, 2004 unless extended or earlier repealed by resolution of
the Columbus Council.
