CCG 2003 Weekly Report - Week 4
Georgia General Assembly Report ? Week 4
This week, the General Assembly was in session for the entire week.
Budget hearings continued early in the week in the House, culminating with the
passing of the amended FY 2003 budget yesterday afternoon. The passed budget
now goes to the Senate, where they will begin major work in committee hearings
next week. The House also began holding hearings on the FY 2004 budget, which
they will continue next week. Another major issue this week in the House was
the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee?s passage of HB 237, the
statewide Soil and Water Conservation bill. In the Senate, heated debate
ensued on ethics and redistricting legislation. The Governor?s ethics bills
were debated as well as the Republicans push to redraw the statewide Senate
districts. No votes were taken on either topic.
The legislature will meet for two days next week, Monday and Tuesday.
They will then recess until 1:00pm the following Wednesday, February 26th.
I have attached a report which contains all the bills we are currently
tracking for Columbus and the positions you have taken on those where we have
