MINUTES # 21-04



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes # 20-04, Assessor

William Braxton second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



Chief Appraiser Martin Land reported to the Board, he obtained the information

regarding Mr. Glancey?s eligibility for homestead exemption for 2004. He said

City Attorney Clifton Fay advised there was conflicting evidence regarding Mr.

Glancey?s residency. Mr. Fay said the LES and voter?s registration are

documents to consider the residency of an individual. Chief Appraiser Martin

Land also reported he confirmed with the Tax Commissioner?s Office that Mr.

Glancey did pay the ad valorem taxes for both his automobiles in 2003. Assessor

Richard Stallings made the motion to grant homestead exemption for 2004 for the

property located at 1017 Ruth Creek Ct. Assessor William Braxton second the

motion; motion carried.



Met with Mrs. Mead regarding homestead exemption for parcel ID 100 019 046.

Mrs. Mead said she received a tax bill and her divorce attorney told her to

talk to the Board that she should be receiving homestead exemption for her

property located at 5413 Old Dominion Rd. The Board advised Mrs. Mead that the

tax bills have not been mailed for 2004 and it is their understanding that she

filed for homestead exemption for 2004 and it was approved. Mrs. Mead said she

was not sure if she filed or not and she would check with the Tax

Commissioner?s office if she filed. The Board took no action.
