A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A $88,894 GRANT FROM THE

GEORGIA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY THROUGH THE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT

PROGRAM AND AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND 216 BY $88,894.



WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government is committed to providing

support for Homeland Security in GEMA Area 4; and,



WHEREAS, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency has allocated grant

funds to the State of Georgia through Georgia Homeland Security Exercise and

Evaluation Program (GHSEEP); and,



WHEREAS, the Public Safety Departments of Columbus, Georgia, Regional

Agencies and Federal Agencies will participate in a Weapons of Mass Destruction

Exercise; and,



WHEREAS, this grant will provide this government with the ability to

respond to WMD incidences with appropriate personnel and equipment ; and,



WHEREAS, this grant does not require any matching funds.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:



1) That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to

accept a grant of $88,894 from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency through

the Georgia Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program; and,



2) Amend the budget through increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by

$88,894 or the actual amount funded.
