A RESOLUTION



NO.



WHEREAS, Khadija Talley of Columbus High School and Dantrell Savage of Jordan

High School recently were selected as 2003-04 Athletes of the Year by the

Columbus Ledger-Enquirer;



WHEREAS, Coaches Bobby Howard (Columbus High School) and Ron Nelson

(Central-Phenix City) received the Coach of the Year awards at the annual

Bi-City Celebration of Sports Excellence ceremony;



WHEREAS, Khadija Talley helped the Lady Blue Devils to their State Runner-up

finish and Dantrell Savage made the All Bi-City first team in football, second

team in basketball and was track and field athlete of the year;



WHEREAS, Coach Howard's Blue Devils baseball team went 35-2 on their way to

winning the Class AAAA State championship;



WHEREAS, Coach Nelson's Central-Phenix City football team finished second in

the 6A-Region 3 and earned a first-round playoff appearance and his baseball

team made the 2004 State semi-finals;



WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these athletes and coaches are worthy of

special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate Khadija Talley (Columbus High School) and Dantrell

Savage (Jordan High School) upon their selection as 2003-04 Athletes of the

Year by the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. We further commend and congratulate

Coach Bobby Howard (Columbus High School) and Coach Ron Nelson (Central-Phenix

City) upon their selection as Coach of the Year. Columbus is proud of their

accomplishments and we wish them every success in the future. Let a copy of

this resolution be forwarded to the above-named recipients.
