Report of Steve Brown, Superintendent
(Presented by John Milam)
Bull Creek Golf Course
? The Tif Eagle greens on the front side of the East course are holding color
well. Rye grass on the West Course will be getting better each month.
? The bunkers 4 ? 12 of the West course have been edged.
? Have installed drain tile near #1 green and #3 green of the East course.
? Work planned for the upcoming month will be tree trimming and winter weed
control.
Oxbow Creek Golf Course
? The color of the greens is not good because of the frost. However, they will
be painted.
? The flowerbeds have been edged and strawed. The cart paths have also been
edged.
? Winter weed control will be work planned for the upcoming month.
Godwin Creek Golf Course
? There was no representative from Godwin Creek Golf Course at the Authority
meeting.
Report of John Milam, Director of Golf
? Bull Creek Golf Course generated revenue of $71,951.54 and had expenses of
$96,213.92 for the month of October 2001.
? Oxbow Creek Golf Course generated revenue of $25,093.04 and had expenses of
$62,129.50 for the month of October 2001.
Old Business
? A request has been made to Chuck Carter, the contractor for the course
renovation work at Bull Creek Golf Course, to use another subcontractor instead
of A&F Irrigation. This was due to the poor quality of the installation work
by A&F on the irrigation system of the front side of the East course.
? A conference telephone call was held between Michael Silverstein, John Milam,
and D.J. DeVictor to discuss site visits by D.J. DeVictor during the Bull Creek
Golf Course renovation, and 4 bunkers on the renovated front side of the East
course that should have been bunkers that could be machine raked, but have to
be hand raked. D.J. DeVictor stated that approximately 40 site visits would be
sufficient to oversee the entire project. DeVictor made 38 site visits on the
renovation of the front nine of the East course, leaving 2 site visits for the
renovation project on the backside of the East course. DeVictor had asked for
another $15,000.00 for additional site visits for the backside renovation.
Michael Silverstein and John Milam stated this was unacceptable, and it was
DeVictor?s responsibility to monitor his site visits for the projects.
DeVictor agreed to make the site visits for the backside of the East course
renovation project at no charge. DeVictor also agreed to redo the 4 bunkers
that could not be machine raked on the front side of the East course so that
they could be machine raked.
? Automated external defibrillation training for the professional staff at Bull
Creek Golf Course will be given after the holidays.
New Business
? Letters will be sent to former Columbus Golf Authority members who have
served 8 years to thank them for their service on the Authority and welcome
them to play golf on the city golf courses with the greens fees waved (they
must pay for golf cart).
? Two members of the Columbus Youth Advisory Council will attend the Columbus
Golf Authority meetings.
? Holiday hams will be given to employees at Bull Creek and Oxbow Creek Golf
Courses.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:45PM. The next
Authority meeting will be Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at Bull Creek Golf Course.
Respectfully submitted,
Rick Cravens
