A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT MATCHING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE
MUSCOGEE COUNTY SMART START COLLABORATIVE c/o UNITED WAY OF THE CHATTAHOOCHEE
VALLEY, INC., OF $32,000 TO FUND TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMMING
TO EDUCATE CHILD CARE PROVIDERS AND TO AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY A
LIKE AMOUNT.
WHEREAS, funds have been made available from the Muscogee County Smart
Start Collaborative for the purpose of improving the quality of child care; and,
WHEREAS, Columbus is eligible for $32,000; and,
WHEREAS, the need to increase the number of child care providers that
understand child development and use developmentally appropriate practices is
critical; and,
WHEREAS, if either the Muscogee County Smart Start Collaborative or the
Positive Parenting Program decide to terminate their agreement for child care
training and technical assistance, the balance of the $32,000 not spent for the
Smart Start Georgia project, will be returned to the Muscogee County Smart
Start Collaborative c/o United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
That the Mayor is authorized to accept a grant from the Muscogee County
Smart Start Collaborative for $32,000 to fund a training and technical
assistance program to educate child care providers and adjust the
Multi-Governmental Fund.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,
held the _________ day of June, 2004 and adopted at said meeting by the
affirmative vote of ________ members of said Council.
