A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT OF $280,000 FROM
FY2001 NUNN- LUGAR-DOMENICI DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS EQUIPMENT PROGRAM FOR CITIES
TO PURCHASE SPECIALIZED PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
FOR FIRE SERVICE, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL PERSONNEL AND AMEND THE
MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND 216 BY$280,000.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government is committed to providing support
for Homeland Security ; and,
WHEREAS, the Nunn-Lugar-Domenici Domestic Preparedness Equipment Program
provides funds to enhance the response capabilities of the city's first
responder agencies; and,
WHEREAS, this program will greatly enhance our ability to respond to incidences
of terrorism involving chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction.;
and,
WHEREAS, this grant does not require any matching funds; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
1) That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a Nunn-Lugar-Domenici
Domestic Preparedness Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to
purchase specialized training equipment for hazardous materials for fire
service, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel.
2) Amend the budget through increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by
$280,000.
