Council Members
WHEREAS, Mr. Carl F. Hopp, Executive Director for Columbus Area Habitat for
Humanity, Inc., retired in January, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hopp was born and raised in New York City, graduated from The
Citidel, has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Graduate School
of Public Affairs, State University of New York at Albany;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hopp served over 20 years in the United States Army where he held
positions as a personnel director, community planner, and an organizational
development consultant to an airborne brigade;
WHEREAS, he moved to Columbus in 1992, served as a habitat volunteer and
Treasurer from 1993-1997 and he became Executive Director for Columbus Area
Habitat for Humanity, Inc. in 1997;
WHEREAS, under his leadership, Habitat has built over 100 houses in Columbus
and has improved the quality of life in many neighborhoods including south
Columbus (Kendrick area), Beallwood, and North Highland;
WHEREAS, he is married to Anne Hopp, Vice President with Colonial Bank, and
they have a son, daughter, four grandsons and a fifth grandchild on the way.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Carl F. Hopp, Executive Director for
Columbus Area Habitat for Humanity, Inc. upon his retirement and we express our
deep appreciation to him for his many contributions to our neighborhoods and
the entire Columbus community. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to
Mr. Carl F. Hopp.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia
held on the 11th day of February, 2003, and adopted at said meeting by the
affirmative vote of ten members of Council.
