A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Gina Perez serves as Georgia State President and National

Postsecondary Parliamentarian for SkillsUSA-VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs

of America);



WHEREAS, she has served as an ambassador for the City of Columbus and Columbus

Technical College, and has actively promoted education in Georgia;



WHEREAS, SkillsUSA-VICA is an organization for secondary and postsecondary

education serving over 266,000 students and over 1000 business and industry

leaders across the country and around the world;



WHEREAS, Ms. Perez has promoted education through appearances on WTVM-9,

WRBL-3, NBC38 and Georgia Public Television; has interviewed for NBC-38 Coffee

Break and Public Agenda with Senator Ed Harbison; and has been featured in the

Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, the Phenix Citizen and USA Today;



WHEREAS, she volunteers with the Boys & Girls Clubs in Columbus and Phenix

City, the Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court, Georgia Association on Young

Children, the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and has done motivational

speeches for local organizations, schools and Fort Benning;



WHEREAS, she was a finalist for the Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership,

is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and is in the process of

writing two books, "Motivating the Youth in America Today" and "Caring for a

Terminal Cancer Patient."



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend Ms. Gina Perez for her service as Georgia State President and

National Parliamentarian for SkillsUSA-VICA and for her promotion of education

in Columbus and throughout the State of Georgia. Let a copy of this resolution

be forwarded to Ms. Gina Perez.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the

10th day of June, 2003, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
