The terms of office of Mr. Sia Etemadi, Uptown Business Association?s
representative, Ms. Mary Ford and Ms. Charlotte H. Frazier, At-large
representatives, expired on January 31, 2002.
None of these three incumbents are not eligible to succeed themselves.
Council must nominate someone for the two Historic District Residents, but
the other nomination must come from the respective organization.
Enclosed is a list of the current members serving on this board.

Charge/Mission
Within its legal and persuasive powers, this board shall encourage
preservation, maintenance and improvements of buildings of historic and/or
architectural significance within the Historic Districts. It has eleven (11)
appointed and voting members, four (4) of which are appointed exclusively by
the Columbus Council. The other seven (7) voting members are also appointed by
the Columbus Council, but they must be members of and recommended by certain
organizations as stated in the ordinance that established the board. There are
three other nonvoting members, one of which is a representative of the Columbus
Housing Authority, one of which represents the Columbus Planning Division and
the other represents the Columbus Inspection and Code enforcement Division.

COMPOSITION OF BOARD: Eleven appointed and voting members.
QUALIFICATION OF MEMBERS: One member shall be a registered architect
recommended by the West Georgia Chapter of the American Institute of
architects. One member shall be a member of the Columbus Homebuilders
Association as recommended by the association. One member shall be a member of
the Historic district Preservation Society as recommended by the society. One
member shall be the member of the Columbus Board of Realtors as recommended by
the board. One member shall e a member of Uptown Columbus, Inc. as recommended
by the organization. Four members shall be at-large members as recommended by
the Columbus Council. Representatives of the Department of Community
Development?s Planning Division, Inspections and Code Enforcement Division and
the Housing Authority of Columbus shall serve on the board as nonvoting
members. See also Section 2-3.02 (a) for general qualifications for all
boards.
MEMBERS APPOINTED BY: Columbus Council. See above, qualifications of Members,
for list of seven organizations who nominate one of their members to serve.
These seven organization members are confirmed by the Columbus Council.
TERMS OF OFFICE: Three years.
COMPENSATION: Members serve without compensation.

SUCCESSION OF MEMBERS: Appointees appointed hereunder who have served two (2)
consecutive full terms shall not be eligible to succeed themselves until the
laps of twelve (12) months from the end of said terms; provided, however, that
such limitation shall not apply to permanent, full-time employees of the
consolidated government who are serving in appointed positions nor to the
Muscogee county Board of Elections. The rules of succession contained in this
section shall be controlling notwithstanding any other rules of succession
heretofore enacted for particular terms that are shorter in length than a full
term shall nevertheless be eligible to succeed themselves for two (2)
successive full terms in addition to serving the shorter staggered term. (Col.
