The terms of office of Ms. Sally Lasseter and Mr. Dennis Luby on the

Building Authority of Columbus will expire on March 24, 2002. Mr. Luby is

eligible to succeed himself. Ms. Lasseter is not eligible to succeed herself,

as this will be the end of her second term of office on this board when her

current term of office expires.



There are four members who reside in Senatorial District 16 and one member

who reside in Senatorial District 15.



There are currently two (2) women serving on this board.



Enclosed is a copy of our data sheet, as well as a list of the current

members.

Charge/Mission

This board issues bonds to finance the construction and/or improvements of

public facilities. It has five members. One member is appointed exclusively

by the Mayor and the other four are appointed by the Columbus Council. The

board meets only on an as needed basis. (1945 Constitution, Art. VII, Sec. VI,

Pa. 1, as amended Nov. 5, 1968, Ga Laws 1966, Pg. 946)

COMPOSITION OF BOARD: Five members.



QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS: Not specified by state law, but Ga. L. 1966, Pg.

948 specifically provides that members of the Columbus Council may serve as

members of this board. See also, Sec. 2-3.02 (a), Columbus Code, for general

qualifications for all boards. Ordinance No. 91-40 prohibits council members

serving on boards.



MEMBERS APPOINTED BY: One member is appointed exclusively by the Mayor and

confirmation of the Council is not required. Exclusively the Columbus Council

appoints the other four members.
