A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Rigdon Road Elementary School is one of eight schools in Georgia to be

nominated for the 2005 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School Award;



WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Education will announce the winners in

September, 2005;



WHEREAS, the selected schools will be honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.;



WHEREAS, criteria used to determine nominees included schools with test scores

in the top ten percent of the state with at least forty percent disadvantaged

students and Rigdon Road Elementary and Browns Mill Elementary in DeKalb County

met this qualification;



WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the students, faculty and staff at Rigdon Road

Elementary School are worthy of special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate the students, faculty and staff of Rigdon

Road Elementary School upon their nomination for the 2005 No Child Left Behind

Blue Ribbon School Award. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Rigdon

Road Elementary Principal Phyllis Jones.
