sufficient until Spring.
Oxbow Golf Course
? Added wood chips to beds.
? Grooming of course.
No financial report was received from Godwin Creek and no representative was
present.
Rick Cravens inquired about the height of the rough on the East Course. The
rough on this course was allowed to grow specifically for the college
tournament scheduled 9/30/02 - 10/1/02 and then will be cut to normal height.
He inquired about Golf Authority discussing height of rough when it's allowed
to grow for a special event versus normal height that is more pleasing to
golfing public.
Chairman Clack requested we revisit this issue at a later time. John Milam
stated that he did not think this would be an issue when all 36 holes are open.
Report of John Milam, Director of Golf
Discussed financial reports of Oxbow and Bull Creek. Oxbow recorded 1,397
rounds of golf in August and Bull Creek recorded 3,725 rounds. John stated a
meeting with Coach Gaither re. '03 Hardaway tournament would be held before
next Authority meeting. Chairman Clack asked John to set-up a meeting with the
Hardaway Principal if we did not have a response from Coach Gaither. John
mentioned Councilman Gary Allen had toured the golf course recently and it was
very much appreciated by all.
Project Update
John reported Phase I of contract has been closed. All vendors have been
paid. Contract for renovation to last 18 holes has been signed. Barring bad
weather, plans are for renovations to be completed and ready to play August,
'03. Plans are to complete the building of a bathroom that was started some
years ago between #6 East and #16East. Plans also call for a new putting green
to be built. John stated he was expecting update very soon regarding landfill
property. It was noted that we did not have any representatives from Media for
our Grand Opening of the recently completed nine holes.
