Council Members
WHEREAS, Aquavious Samuels, 2004 graduate of Jordan High School, recently won a

gold medal during the Down Under International Games held from July 4-16 in

Australia;



WHEREAS, he beat 18 other competitors in the long jump competition to capture

the gold medal and become an international champion;



WHEREAS, he enjoyed touring various parts of Australia, including the Steve

Irwin Zoo and the site of the 2000 Olympics track and field events;



WHEREAS, his hard work has also earned a scholarship to Augusta's Paine

College;



WHEREAS, his accomplishments in state and international competition are worthy

of special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate Aquavious Samuels upon his gold medal

victory in the long jump competition in the Down Under International Games held

from July 4-16 in Australia. Columbus is truly proud of his accomplishments

and we wish him every success in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be

forwarded to Aquavious Samuels.

10th day of August, 2004, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote

of ten members of Council.
