A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Mary Lynne Cumiskey has recently been selected as the first female

inductee to the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame;



WHEREAS, from 1973-1976, she became the first female to win the Georgia High

School State Tennis Championship four years in a row;



WHEREAS, she was named Georgia Junior Player of the Year in 1976 after being

ranked number one in Georgia in her age group every year from 1972-1976;



WHEREAS, she was a member of the Junior Wightman Cup team in 1976 and 1977 and

served as the team captain in 1977;



WHEREAS, in 1980, she became the first female Southeastern Conference Tennis

Champion and the first woman from the University of Georgia to participate in

the NCAA Tennis Championships;



WHEREAS, as the Tennis Coach of Brookstone School, her teams have won Girls

State Class A Championships in 1984, 1986, 1992 and 2002 and were runners-up in

1987, 1990, 1993, 1994 and 1997.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate Mary Lynne Cumiskey upon her recent

induction into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame. We are proud of

her accomplishments and wish her every success in the future. Let a copy of

this resolution be forwarded to Mary Lynne Cumiskey.
