MINUTES # 31-05



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, August 3, 2005,

at 2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Pat Hunter made a motion to approve Minutes # 30-05, Assessor Ann

Grantham seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.



Atty Clyde Armour did not have an appointment with the Board of Tax Assessors,

but appeared with several members of the Korean Catholic Association of

Columbus regarding his request for non-taxability made previously for parcel ID

063 040 017. Chief Appraiser Martin Land advised the Board he had contacted

Atty Armour to advise him a field check of the property indicated the property

was not being used for religious purposes. Mr. Armour told the Board that he

wanted to clarify some information, which had been given to Chief Appraiser

Martin Land regarding the use of the property. Atty Armour said the clothing,

shoes etc in the building were for a yard sale to raise money for repairing the

building. He also said church services were held in the building on January 1,

2005 and showed the Board photographs taken of the service. Assessor Richard

Stallings made the motion to approve tax exempt status for parcel ID 063 040

017 for the year 2005; Assessor Pat Hunter seconded the motion; motion carried

unanimously.
