RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Eugene Flournoy of Columbus died on January 16, 2004;
WHEREAS, Mr. Flournoy was a long-time employee of Columbus Bank and Trust
Company and was known as a champion of customer service;
WHEREAS, he was born in Macon, Georgia on August 15, 1943, son of Robert Josiah
Flournoy, Jr. and Rachel Smith Flournoy;
WHEREAS, he was a graduate of Columbus High School, Columbus College and the
Rutgers University School of Banking;
WHEREAS, he was a wild bird enthusiast and honorary Professor of Herpetology at
the University of Maryland, was an expert on Civil War history and enjoyed
carpentry, masonry and along with his beloved blue 1953 Ford Customline, was an
avid outdoorsman;
WHEREAS, he also served as board member and former President of the Anne
Elizabeth Shepherd Home, was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus,
the Country Club of Columbus and was a devoted Sunday School teacher and member
of St. Luke United Methodist Church;
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Carol and children, Kelly Flournoy
Pridgen, Rhett Gavin Flournoy and Robert Turner Flournoy and grandchildren,
Rachel Flournoy Pridgen, Gregory Keith Pridgen, Jr. and Michael Cole Kiker.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Robert Eugene Flournoy our sincere
condolences and deepest sympathy. His compassion and service to the Columbus
community will long be remembered. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded
to the family of Mr. Robert Eugene Flournoy.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
9th day of March, 2004, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
