A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Columbus Police Detective Joyce Dent-Fitzpatrick recently assisted a

woman who was allegedly being assaulted near the Wal-Mart on Airport Thruway;

WHEREAS, Detective Dent-Fitzpatrick, off-duty at the time, helped the woman and

two children into a vehicle and then Detective Dent-Fitzpatrick called 911 and

followed the suspect to a private residence;

WHEREAS, the quick action of Detective Dent-Fitzpatrick led to the arrest of

the suspect and ensured the safety of the woman and her children;

WHEREAS, the actions of Detective Dent-Fitzpatrick are worthy of special by

this Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend Columbus Police Detective Joyce Dent-Fitzpatrick for her

quick action in protecting a mother and her two children from a suspect on

March 13, 2005. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Detective Joyce

Dent-Fitzpatrick.
