MINUTES # 18-05



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor William Braxton made a motion to approve Minutes # 17-05, Assessor Pat

Hunter seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board of Tax Assessors approved a development authority bond letter for

CEDC/ICForm, Inc. project for 2005.



The Board reviewed and approved the request for non-taxability for parcel ID

005 013 009 for 2005.



Atty Ed Sprouse, Mr. Cowley and Mr. Mu?iz appeared before the Board. They

briefed the Board on the Ft. Benning Army Residential Communities Initiative

Project. After listening to their presentation and reviewing the legal opinions

with respect to the tax exempt status, the Board concluded that the project

will be exempt from real property ad valorem taxation. As requested the Board

provided Ft. Benning Family Communities, LLC with a letter reflecting their

determination of the non-taxable status for the project.



Met with Residential Division Chief Bob O?Brien, reviewed and approved the

following:



2005 Map Splits: 8

New Constructions: 597

Non-Homesteaded Permits: 1,233



Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the

following:



Permits: 13

Land Revaluation: 1 NBHD
