A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Major General (Ret.) Kenneth Leuer, former all-American wrestler, was

recently inducted into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame;



WHEREAS, General Leuer was a two-time all-American wrestler at the University

of Iowa and won a national championship in 1956;



WHEREAS, he later would complete a 32-year career in the U.S. Army, rising to

the rank of Major General and serving as commandant at Fort Benning,

Georgia;



WHEREAS, he is also referred to as ?the father of the modern-day Army Ranger?

because of his role in forming and training the first modern Ranger battalion

in 1974 and in developing the Ranger Creed;



WHEREAS, Major General Kenneth Leuer?s accomplishments are worthy of special

recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate Major General (Ret.) Kenneth Leuer upon his

induction into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame and we wish him

every success in the future. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to

Major General (Ret.) Kenneth Leuer.
