A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDS DONATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF

OBTAINING A STUDY FOR A NEW CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION SYSTEM FOR THE

CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT.

WHEREAS, private interests have agreed to donate $172,000.00 to the

Consolidated Government for a study to be conducted by the University of

Georgia, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, for a new classification and

compensation system; and,

WHEREAS, this Council desires to accept the donated funds and use said funds to

complete the study proposed by the University of Georgia, which will be the

basis for a new classification and compensation system for the Consolidated

Government.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

1. We hereby authorize the City Manager and Finance Director to accept funds

donated to the Consolidated Government for a study to be conducted by the

University of Georgia, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, for a new

classification and compensation system for Columbus, Georgia; and,

2. We further authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with the Board

of Regents of the University System of Georgia for the purpose of conducting

said study; and,

3. We further authorize the City Manager and Finance Director to make payments

not to exceed $172,000.00 to the Board of Regents or the University of Georgia

as specified by such contract; and,

3. We further authorize the City Manager and Finance Director to expend up to

$38,000.00 toward the $172,000.00 contract amount, if necessary to ensure

timely completion of the contract.
