A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT WITH

GEORGIA POWER TO CONVERT A PORTION OF ELECTRIC USE AT THE COUNTY JAIL AND

MUSCOGEE COUNTY PRISON FROM POWER AND LIGHT (PL) RATE TO REAL TIME PRICING

(RTP).



WHEREAS, The Columbus Consolidated Government is billed by Georgia Power

Company for electricity used at the County Jail and Muscogee County Prison

under the Power and Light rate; and,



WHEREAS, The Georgia Public Service Commission has allowed Georgia Power

Company to determine the length of time qualifying customers could convert to

Real Time Pricing; and,



WHEREAS, the conversion from PL to RTP will provide for a reduction on the

electric bill at the County Jail and Muscogee County Prison; and,



WHEREAS, The City of Columbus has the option after one year to discontinue

RTP if it proves not to be beneficial to the city.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign an agreement with

Georgia Power to convert that portion of the electric bill that qualifies from

PL rate to RTP rate at the County Jail and Muscogee County Prison.
