A RESOLUTION



No.



WHEREAS, the Columbus Board of Water Commissioners has recently held a public

hearing at the meeting of the Columbus Council on October 15, 2002, concerning

a proposed water rate increase to be spread over a five-year period;



WHEREAS, the Columbus Board of Water Commissioners recently approved the

proposed water rate increase at a regular meeting of the Board of Water

Commissioners;



WHEREAS, the Columbus Council desires that public hearings be held annually at

a meeting of the Columbus Council prior to any additional water rate increases

to take effect in 2004 or subsequent years so that the Council and citizens may

be informed as to the necessity for such increases.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby request that the Columbus Board of Water Commissioners conduct annual

public hearings at a meeting of the Columbus Council prior to any additional

water rate increases to take effect in 2004 or subsequent years. Let a copy of

this Resolution be forwarded to Columbus Water Works President Billy Turner and

the Chairman of the Columbus Board of Water Commissioners.
