MINUTES # 35-04



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, September 8, 2004,

at 2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor William Braxton made a motion to approve Minutes # 34-04, Assessor Pat

Hunter seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



Met with Mr. Gray representing Ex Committee of the Baptist Convention of the

State of Georgia requesting non-taxability for property located at 3930

University Ave (Parcel ID 069 023 039). Mr. Gray said the Columbus Foundation

Inc. purchased their property on Clearview Circle and the Ex Committee of the

Baptist Convention of the State of Georgia acquired the property located at

3930 University Avenue on August 15, 2003. Mr. Gray said they are in the

process of building a new Baptist Student Union Center at 3920 University Ave,

which will be used as a campus ministry organization. He said they started

construction on the new facility in June 2004. He said currently they are

operating out of the Clearview Circle location until the building is completed.

The Board delayed the decision and asked Chief Appraiser Martin Land to

contact Mr. Gray to obtain some additional information regarding the property

located at 3930 University.
