Subject River Road Property



Description Have the staff to provide an update and status report on the

property of the former Texaco Service Station, located out on River Road that

we continue to send our personnel out to cleanup. Let?s also demand that this

property be boarded up. (Request of Councilor Davis)



Also, have the City Attorney to get together with the Inspections & Code

Enforcement staff and find out what the situation is and report back to this

Council. (Request of Mayor

Response I spoke with Gene Hatcher, attorney for the owner of the property, he

advised that she will either put new roof on building & complete repairs, or

work out a contract with a party who wants to demo existing building &

rebuild. I urged him to have his client work quickly to resolve this issue.



From my conversation with Mr. Hatcher, I gathered that the bankruptcy will not

affect further negotiations as he has sent all interested parties a notice of

default and will proceed with the owner repairing. Should they fail to

perform, we could possibly move forward with demo. I will get with legal

counsel when/if we get to that point.
