WHEREAS, Georgia Senator Max Cleland and Georgia Congressman Mac Collins have
recently placed funding in appropriations bills to help the Columbus Water
Works receive a grant in the amount of $750,000;
WHEREAS, these funds are part of the federal share of the CWW Biosolids Flow
Through Thermophilic Treatment (BFT) Demonstration Project to improve the
cost-effectiveness and level of treatment of biosolids that result from
treatment of Columbus wastewater;
WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to meet federal Clean Water Act
requirements to treat biosolids resulting from wastewater treatment and the
funds will be administered by the Environmental Protection Agency;
WHEREAS, the FY03 appropriations funding would mark the second year that the
Columbus has received grant funding for the Columbus Water Works biosolids
project.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby express our deep appreciation to Senator Max Cleland and Congressman
Mac Collins for their assistance in including grant funding for the Columbus
Water Works BFT Demonstration Project in the amount of $750,000 as a part of
the FY03 appropriations bills in Congress. Let a copy of this Resolution be
forwarded to Senator Max Cleland and Congressman Mac Collins.
