Council Members
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the United States Attorney,
Chattahoochee Valley Community College, and the Columbus Department of Fire and
Emergency Medical Services provided a 28-hour conference on Homeland Security
from February 18-21, 2003 at the Columbus Civic Center;
WHEREAS, this conference was attended by over 200 public safety and security
personnel from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and
Washington, D.C.;
WHEREAS, this broad participation by dozens of public safety and security
agencies was brought about by the hard work of our Columbus Fire and EMS
Department and Columbus Civic Center personnel, the staff at Chattahoochee
Valley Community College and local representatives from the U. S. Department of
Justice.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend Honorable Frank Maxwell Wood, U. S. Attorney and Velda Kent,
Law Enforcement Coordination Manager, Macon, Georgia, Dr. Laurel Blackwell,
President, Dale Boswell, Farris Brock, Jimmy Davis, Reggie Gordy, Keith Manuel,
Saundra Noles, Jane Norden, Christer Sanks, Roosevelt Sparks, Jacquie Thacker,
Susie Trammell and Joan Waters from Chattahoochee Valley Community College,
Deputy Chief Robert Futrell, Susan Brown and Julie Daniel from the Columbus
Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Dale Hester from the
Columbus Civic Center for their efforts in presenting the Homeland Security
conference for public safety and security personnel held at the Columbus Civic
Center from February 18-21, 2003. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded
to the above-named participants.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
4th March, 2003, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of ten
members of said Council.
