A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Columbus High School was recently named one of 24 Magnet Schools of
Excellence by Magnet Schools of America based in Washington, D.C.;
WHEREAS, the award is based upon documented criteria including commitment to
high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful diversity efforts
and the consistent delivery of quality services to all school stakeholders;
WHEREAS, Magnet Schools of America represents approximately two thousand
schools across the country and the only other Georgia winner was Marshpoint
Elementary in Savannah;
WHEREAS, Columbus High School will also be eligible for one of two other
awards, the Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award and the Hogan and
Hartson Distinguished Merit Award;
WHEREAS, in 2004, Columbus High School was among 257 schools selected for the
No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools award;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Ms. Janice Hudson, Liberal Arts Magnet Program
Director, and her students are worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Janice Hudson, Columbus High School?s
Liberal Arts Magnet Program Director, and her students upon their selection as
a Magnet School of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America. Let a copy of this
Resolution be forwarded to Ms. Janice Hudson of Columbus High School.
