A RESOLUTION



NO.





WHEREAS, on January 10, 2004, a tractor trailer fuel truck overturned on the

southbound entrance ramp to I-185;



WHEREAS, the vehicle ignited into flames and three nearby citizens came to the

aid of the truck driver Robert Etheridge;



WHEREAS, Bobby Walden, Shane McFay and Herlon Stephens approached the burning

vehicle and assisted Etheridge into a pickup truck and took him away from the

blaze;



WHEREAS, the quick and courageous actions of these three good Samaritans helped

save the life of Mr. Etheridge and deserve special recognition from this

Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend Bobby Walden, Shane McFay and Herlon Stephens for their brave

and courageous action in helping save the life of Mr. Robert Etheridge on

January 10, 2004. Their acts serve as a shining example of heroism and good

citizenship. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Bobby Walden, Shane

McFay and Herlon Stephens.
