A RESOLUTION



No.



WHEREAS, on November 9, 2002, Matthew B. Jones of Midland, age 10, was deer

hunting with his grandfather, Larry Phillips;



WHEREAS, around 5:15 p.m., Matthew heard a commotion and saw that his

grandfather had fallen approximately 28 feet to the ground from his deer stand;



WHEREAS, as it started to drizzle rain and get dark, Matthew hung his orange

vest as a marker, helped shelter his grandfather, and went for assistance;



WHEREAS, Matthew found his way back to the highway, drove his motorized mule

about half a mile down the highway, found friends and led them to his

grandfather so that he could be transported to the hospital;



WHEREAS, Matthew B. Jones' heroic efforts are worthy of special recognition by

this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend Matthew B. Jones for his heroic efforts in saving his grandfather,

Larry Phillips, after a hunting accident on November 9, 2002. Let a copy of

this Resolution be forwarded to Matthew B. Jones.
