AN ORDINANCE
No. 02 -
An Ordinance amending Section 21-14 of the Columbus Code of Ordinances by
changing the terms of office of the Taxicab Commission from two years to four
years; and providing for extensions of the two-term limit by the Columbus
Council; providing for staggered terms; and for other purposes.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1.
Columbus Code Section 21-14 is amended by deleting the second sentence (which
provides for two-year terms) and by substituting the following:
"The term of office for members of the Commission shall be four years and
members shall be eligible to serve two consecutive full terms; provided,
however, the Columbus Council may allow an extension of two additional full
terms for members of this Commission. The first three members of the
Commission appointed after January 1, 2003 shall serve an initial term of two
years. The fourth, fifth and six members of the Commission appointed after
January 1, 2003 shall serve an initial term of three years. The seventh,
eighth and ninth members of the Commission appointed after January 1, 2003
shall serve an initial term of four years. After service of these initial
terms, members of the Commission may serve two additional full terms upon
approval of the Columbus Council for each term of office."
SECTION 2.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance
are hereby repealed.

AN ORDINANCE
NO. 02-75
An Ordinance authorizing the creation of an Environmental Court Division of the
Recorder's Court and the regular hearing of the docket for violations of
environmental ordinances; increasing the FY03 Budget for Recorder's Court by
$3,598.00; and for other purposes.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1.
Chapter 2 of the Columbus Code is hereby amended by adding a new Section 2-17
to read as follows:
?The Environmental Court Division of Recorder?s Court is hereby created. An
Environmental Court Docket will be heard at 9:00 a.m. on the first Wednesday of
each month and at 2:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the
Recorder?s Court. The cases heard shall include, but shall not be limited to,
the attached list of environmental ordinances.?
SECTION 2.
The Recorder's Court Budget is increased by $3,598.00 for Fiscal Year 2003
in order to pay the salaries to the Recorders Pro-Tem for additional two court
sessions per month.
SECTION 3.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance
are hereby repealed.
